A clear text guide and interactive examples will help you quickly master the rules of the game, understand match logic, and learn to seamlessly control the process on PC or smartphone.
STUDY RULESThis is a scientifically validated brain training method designed to expand working memory capacity, improve concentration, and increase fluid intelligence.
Effectiveness is proven by studies from Susanne Jaeggi (2008) and Johns Hopkins University (2017). The trainer literally increases your working memory capacity.
You simultaneously track two channels of information: visual (square position) and auditory (letters). This forces both brain hemispheres to work.
You need to compare current signals with those from 2 or 3 steps ago. This requires constant rewriting and clearing of old data in memory.
Level 2-Back means you must compare the current step with the signal from 2 steps ago. Let's break down a classic 5-step game session step-by-step:
The square flashes in the top-left corner, and you hear the letter "B". Since this is the very first step in the session, there is nothing to compare it with yet. Just try to remember both signals.
No Action RequiredThe square moves to the middle-right row, and the letter "H" sounds. For level 2-Back, this is only the first step after the initial one, so there still cannot be any matches. Remember the current combination.
No Action RequiredThe square flashes in the top-left corner, and the letter "L" sounds. We compare the signals with Step 1 (exactly 2 steps ago):
• Position matches (top-left corner on Step 1 and Step 3).
• Sound does NOT match (was "B", now "L").
The square moves to the top-center, and the letter "H" sounds. We compare the signals with Step 2 (exactly 2 steps ago):
• Position does NOT match (on Step 2 the square was on the right, now it's in the center).
• Sound matches (the letter "H" sounded on Step 2 and sounds again on Step 4).
The square is in the top-left corner again, and the letter "L" sounds. We compare with Step 3 (2 steps ago):
• Position matches (top-left corner on Steps 3 and 5).
• Sound matches (the letter "L" sounded on Step 3 and on Step 5).
The trainer is optimized for both desktop PCs with keyboard controls and mobile phones with touchscreens.
Press the F key on the keyboard when squares match.
Press the J key on the keyboard when letters match.
Left-click on the game field for position, right-click for sound.
The screen is split in half. Tap on the left half to mark position, and on the right half to mark sound.
An automatic training demonstration is running below. Watch the signals and the log on the right to see how matches are identified in real-time.
Practice a little every day. New synapses and neural connections in the brain form through consistent, systematic stimulation rather than rare, exhausting overloads.
Don't get discouraged by mistakes. The algorithm automatically increases difficulty on success (>80%) and decreases it on frequent mistakes, keeping you in the ideal zone for growth.
Close social networks, messengers, and disable notifications. Dual N-Back working memory training requires extreme, continuous concentration without interruptions.
